The Lizard
The Lizard is the most southerly point of mainland Britain, a peninsula of serpentine cliffs and hidden coves, with a red and white striped lighthouse that has warned ships off this coast for centuries. It has some of Cornwall’s wildest coast path walking, fishing villages such as Cadgwith and Coverack and rare heathland wildlife, and it feels more remote than most of the county.
My Lizard videos include a beautiful winter afternoon walking around the peninsula, stormy seas at the Lizard, Mullion Cove and Porthleven, an overview of the peninsula and where Poldark was filmed.
When you are ready to plan a visit, my other website, Best In Cornwall, has guides covering parking, beaches, walks, where to eat and where to stay. Here are the ones for the Lizard, covering parking, things to do, eating, staying and local facts.
