We’ve visited the Isles of Scilly many times over the years, and each trip tends to focus on one particular part of the islands. On this day trip to St Mary’s, with just around four hours to explore, we decided to head straight for Pelistry Beach, one of the few spots on the island we hadn’t yet visited.

We chose to walk, enjoying the scenery along the way, though in hindsight hiring bikes might have made the journey easier. Still, it was a beautiful day, and the stroll across the island was brisk but rewarding. The beach itself was peaceful, with clear waters and the calm, open landscape that makes St Mary’s so special.

We’ll be returning in October, likely one of the last trips aboard the Scillonian before it’s replaced by a newer vessel, and already we’re looking forward to exploring more of this unique corner of Cornwall.
