I visited Kennel Vale in early October 2021 and was very lucky to get some perfect autumnal weather and sunshine.
There had been some heavy rain in recent days and the River Kennel was swollen and flowing more than usual which meant it was really quite noisy throughout Kennel Vale which I wasn’t expecting.
Kennel Vale does have a reputation for being haunted and a bit creepy. It definitely has an other-wordly feel to it and you can understand why it has such a reputation. Kennel Vale is the site of a now dilapidated gunpowder factory and several people have lost their lives there due to work-based accidents during the time they were it was in operation so this is where the stories of supposed hauntings come from.
Haunted or not it’s a very beautiful place to spend some time.
