BBC Cornwall recently featured one of my stormy seas videos filmed along Penzance Promenade. The footage captured powerful waves crashing over the sea wall, sending sea spray, seaweed and small stones across the walkway and road. It made for dramatic scenes that accompanied a local news story about the challenging coastal conditions that day.
I filmed the footage from a safe distance as the Atlantic swell pushed straight into Mount’s Bay, creating the kind of surging waves that Penzance Promenade is known for during stormy spells. These conditions often produce striking visuals, and it was great to see the video used to help illustrate the story for a wider audience across Cornwall.
Moments like this are exactly why I spend so much time documenting the coastline. Storm days can be unpredictable, but when everything aligns, they offer a unique glimpse into the power of the ocean and the resilience of our coastal towns. Having BBC Cornwall pick up and feature the video is always appreciated and helps bring attention to just how dynamic this stretch of coastline can be.
