It was a real treat to spot a fairly rare Minke Whale while I was out in St Ives, waiting with my new zoom lens.

I had been hoping for a Basking Shark, but this graceful visitor more than made up for it. Having experienced cage diving with Great White Sharks in South Africa and swimming with Bull Sharks and White Tip Reef Sharks at the Great Barrier Reef, I’m still keen to encounter a Basking Shark closer to home.

This Minke Whale sighting was a memorable reminder of the incredible marine life right off Cornwall’s coast.
