In January 2024, a small pod of dolphins appeared in St Ives Bay. I had my mini drone with me and managed to capture a short snippet of their activity. Although they did not stay long, the aerial perspective offers a unique view of these graceful creatures moving through the water, an up close encounter from above that highlights their natural elegance.
The sea was calm and the light soft, giving perfect filming conditions for the brief time they were visible. From above, the dolphins could be seen gliding just beneath the surface, occasionally breaking through as they travelled across the bay. Even a short sighting like this feels special, reminding you how rich the marine life around Cornwall really is.
Moments like this are what make filming here so rewarding. The unpredictability of wildlife means you never know what you will find, but when something like this happens, it makes all the waiting worthwhile.
