On 28 March 2024, Penzance Promenade was hit by some truly powerful waves. The sea was running high, sending heavy swells crashing against the sea walls and flooding sections of the walkway with spray and foam.
The footage captures the force of the sea as it crashes against the defensive walls, offering a striking view of Cornwall’s coastal energy in action. Each wave rolled in with its own rhythm, some breaking cleanly while others surged over the promenade in bursts of white water.
The air was filled with the sound of wind and water colliding, a deep, echoing roar that carried across Mount’s Bay. Despite the conditions, a few people stopped to watch, their coats pulled tight as the spray blew across the promenade.
Stormy days like this show how quickly the weather can transform the coast. Even after years of filming around Cornwall, it’s still fascinating to see how familiar places like Penzance change with each tide and storm.
