The enormous bluefin tuna have returned to Land’s End for 2025, and I’ve been lucky enough to head down a couple of times recently to try and capture the action. This video comes from my first day of filming, when conditions were perfect and the tuna were putting on quite a show just offshore, darting through the water with incredible speed and power.
On my second visit a few days later, I only spotted a couple of them, suggesting I might have just missed the early morning feeding frenzy. That unpredictability is part of what makes filming wildlife here in Cornwall so exciting, you never quite know what you’re going to see. The sea can look completely calm one moment and then suddenly come alive with movement as the tuna chase baitfish near the surface.
Every visit feels different, and even familiar locations like Land’s End can offer new surprises depending on the tide, the light, and, of course, the fish. The power and grace of these creatures never fail to impress, and it’s amazing to think they’ve made such a strong return to Cornish waters in recent years.
Watching the sea from the cliffs, you quickly realise how special moments like this are. The combination of ocean, wildlife, and changing weather makes filming here one of the most rewarding experiences of the year.
