On a perfect spring day, I set out to film a stroll around Penzance, and truly, on days like this, there’s nowhere I’d rather be than Cornwall, even having travelled around the world three times.
The video begins along Penzance Promenade. As the only town in Cornwall with a promenade, it’s been recently renovated to a high standard, and the work really shows. From there, I head to the famous Penzance Lido and Penzance Harbour before exploring the Wharfside Shopping Centre, which offers a fantastic viewpoint over the main car park and harbour, with sweeping views across Mount’s Bay towards St Michael’s Mount.
During filming, the Scillonian III slipped into the harbour, always a wonderful sight, and a small sign that life in the town is slowly returning to normal.
The walk continues up Penzance High Street, past Causewayhead, and through Penlee Park and Morab Subtropical Gardens, before looping back to the promenade. Unfortunately, by the time I returned, part of the road had been closed due to a serious accident, requiring the air ambulance, several fire engines, and police, a stark reminder of how unpredictable life can be, even on the most beautiful days.
