Rough Seas At Sennen, Cornwall, UK

On the way home from filming at Land’s End, I made a detour to Sennen to capture the rough seas breaking against the harbour wall. The wind was steady, and the tide high enough to send powerful waves rolling into the small cove, crashing against the granite with a deep, heavy rhythm.

It was well worth the stop, with the crashing waves providing a striking display of Cornwall’s coastal power. The spray carried far across the harbour, catching the light as it drifted over the road. Each new wave seemed to build on the last, filling the air with sound and movement.

Sennen is one of those places that feels different every time you visit. Sometimes calm and quiet, other times wild and unpredictable, it always has a certain energy about it, especially when the Atlantic swell pushes straight into the bay. Standing there watching the waves roll in, it’s easy to see why this spot has become a favourite for photographers and storm watchers alike.
