With my trusty GoPro strapped to my bike helmet, I set off to capture St Ives on a bright but blustery day, the kind where the wind never quite lets up. The town was unusually peaceful, with only a handful of people out and about. Hopefully, we’ll never again see St Ives this quiet at this time of year.

Filmed just before the easing of lockdown restrictions, the streets and beaches had an almost surreal calmness about them. The blue skies made the sea look stunning, though the high winds whipped it into something a little wilder than usual.

I’m uploading this video on 20 April 2021, and I’m pleased to say that St Ives has since sprung back to life, busy, buzzing, and full of that unmistakable energy once again.
