This video was filmed back in November 2020 on a very stormy day in Cornwall. The wind, sea spray, and dramatic light made it a perfect opportunity to visit a few favourite storm-watching spots and capture the energy of the coast.
I started at the Lizard Peninsula, the UK’s most southerly point, not Land’s End as many people think. The waves were breaking hard against the cliffs, and the wind swept straight across the headland, carrying the sound of the sea in every direction. Standing there, it felt completely exposed to the Atlantic, a place that really shows the scale and power of the ocean.
Next was Mullion Cove, a small but beautiful fishing community. The harbour was being hit by waves that burst over the outer wall, sending spray into the air and rolling back through the entrance. Even on the stormiest days, it’s a place that keeps its charm, with the cliffs and cottages giving it a timeless feel.
Finally, I ended the day at Porthleven, one of the best storm-watching locations in Cornwall. By then, the tide was high and the waves were at their most impressive. Every few minutes, a larger set would break against the harbour wall, creating the kind of scenes that make this spot so famous during winter storms.
Stormy days like this are some of my favourite to film, unpredictable, challenging, and always rewarding. Each location offered a slightly different mood, but all showed the same raw power that defines Cornwall’s coast.
